Coming Home: Reentry After Incarceration
Monday, October 30, 6pm - 8pm at Preterm, 12000 Shaker Blvd, 44120
Incarceration rates in Ohio are on track to be at an all-time high, even though crime rates are decreasing. After people leave Ohio’s jails and prisons how are they reintegrated back into their communities? Where can formerly incarcerated people find jobs, housing, and community support to establish a safety net that keeps them from going back to jail?
Join us for a community conversation with Crystal Bryant, Program Director at the Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry, and Derrick Speights, Community Outreach Coordinator at Edwins Leadership & Restaurant Institute. We’ll discuss community approaches to reentry after incarceration, the stigma and barriers that people coming out of incarceration face, and how to help people thrive after they’ve been incarcerated. Because we all deserve a second chance.
This is part of Preterm’s Monthly Community Event Series, so it’s free and open to the public! No RSVP necessary. Parking is available in the Preterm parking lot. For more information, email info@preterm.org.
(Social workers can earn 2 free CEU credits for this event.)
